Looks to Mazarakru
NAME: Quilath (kee-lahth)
AGE: Hatchling
COLOR: Blue
RIDER: Maz’ru
RANK: Weyrling
SPEAKING COLOR: add9e6
APPEARANCE: Quilath has an average build for a blue, slim, but not overly so. He will be 52 feet at full growth. His hide is mainly a pale wintry sort of blue, but a slightly darker sky blue covers his face, along his sides, the undersides of his wings, down his tail to where his backridges end, and down his hind legs to just before his paws. This sky blue fades into a pale indigo along his wing edges, haunches, at the base of his tail, and on his muzzle. Over these two darker blues, the same pale blue that covers the majority of his hide is flecked and speckled, giving him a snowy appearance. His headnobs are large, though not quite as noticeably so as his green sister’s.
ABILITIES
AGILITY: 6
SPEED: 6
ENDURANCE: 4
SEARCHDRAGON
PERSONALITY: Formal, Calm, Patient, Perfectionist
Quilath is a dragon that sets high standards, for himself and his rider most of all, however those expectations tend to leak over onto others as well. This has the habit of making him come off rather more judgmental than he means to be. While he is always polite in his constructive criticisms, his words can come off cold and a bit blunt at times, especially for the more sensitive sorts of individuals, and he may need his rider’s help in choosing softer, kinder words if he’s going to offer ‘advice’, which he will at least take readily enough, for he is always looking to improve himself. His high standards are not part of some expectation that he or his rider deserve better, but rather that they be better. They apply to character and ability, and Quilath will always be striving to be a better dragon, will work hard during drills and may even try to push himself too far if his rider does not pull him back. Likewise, he will push his rider to do the same, and those around him as well. If you are going to do something, you should do it right, and Quilath will spend as much time as he needs on a task until he gets it perfect.
A polite and well-mannered dragon, Quilath is above petty fighting and insults. He will be quietly disapproving of such behavior in his rider, though if he finds his rider behaving in a particularly unacceptable way, they can expect a lecture on propriety. This is a blue that is perfectly comfortable and happy with the status quo. The hierarchy of dragons is deeply ingrained, but it seems even deeper in Quilath. He will always be polite and respectful to his superiors, obedient when orders are given, regardless of what they are, following through on any mission issued him without complaint. He speaks rather precisely, not wanting to be misunderstood, and at times can get a bit too caught up on formalities and etiquette, ever reminding his rider to address others by their proper titles. Sir, you forgot to say sir. Yes, sir, is the appropriate response. And don’t worry, he’ll remind you as many times as you need.
For all his formality and perfectionistic criticism, Quilath has the patience of a saint. Though he may lecture when etiquette isn’t properly observed, it is never with any heat or anger to it, only a clear disapproval and expectation that of course you are capable of better. He is calm in all he does, maddeningly impossible to rile to any sort of emotional extreme, short of his rider’s life being in danger or his instinctive hatred for Thread. He is a levelheaded in nearly any situation, his thoughts clear and unmuddled by emotions that might very well get the better of most of his peers, and even his rider. He is the calm in the storm, and is very willing to share that calm should his rider fall into more temperamental moods.
It is unlikely that Quilath will ever hold a real conversation with a human other than his rider, it just isn’t proper, after all, but there may be times he deems it appropriate to say a few words, for one reason or another. Such as if the two of them are out on Search, he may speak briefly to any prospective candidates. Though he has a Searchdragon’s sensitivity, it does not affect him as overwhelmingly as his green sister, partly due to her being more sensitive than he is to start with and partly due to his own calm and emotionally level nature. When it comes to chasing, Quilath is not likely to show much interest unless he has a particular fondness for the green rising, or if prompted by his rider.
