Face Claim: Taylor Kitsch
NAME: E'san (formerly Eissan)
RANK: Brown Weyrling (Journeyman Glass-Smith)
AGE: 23 turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
DRAGON: Brown Norioth
PETS: --
EXTRAS: None at Present
APPEARANCE:
Eissan is simply, well, Eissan. Standing tall at 5’11” with a heft of around 180 pounds, he’s only a couple inches shorter and lighter than his father and brother. He’s been blessed to look like his mother, with a mop of silky, light brown hair instead of Serdin’s red, and Green eyes in place of his browns; if he didn’t look so much like his mother, the family would have probably questioned his parentage as a child. He’s grown from a spindly little brat into an athletic, tone young man, built and shaped by his father’s teaching and roughhousing with Serin, his brother. He’s fairly tanned, with a pension to shed his shirt in the Smithy when working. He’s not at all shy and isn’t bothered about the fact it startles some people or the fact the little scars on his hands and wrists, a result of glass flex in the course of his craft, tend to draw attention.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Carefree at heart, Eissan can come off as a bit reckless and careless. A Joker at heart, he tends to forget that not everyone shares his sense of humor. He doesn’t set out to hurt people’s feelings, but when you are pulling jests and pranks, things aren’t always harmless. When he messes up, no one is nearly as hard on him as he is himself, and no amount of scolding will have the effect of his own harsh words will. He’s often one of the first people to jump to start a new idea or a new project, but he tends to get either bored or distracted, often leaving others to pick up the bits he leaves unfinished.
(Shorthand: Joker, Carefree, Reckless, Harsh judge of self, Good at starting things but bad at following through to complete them.)
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Given that at a young age, the boy didn’t know what he wanted to do with himself, he’s grown up to very easy to shift from one idea to another. Flexible and Adaptable, he doesn’t fluster when rules need to be changed or plans need to be put off. He stands by his friends through the toughest time, and he will be probably one of the first people to swing it someone is messing with one of his friends or family. Independent and creative, it shows in his glasswork and his lessons; he is wonderful at problem-solving, figuring out new ways around old problems – now if only he could focus long enough to finish them? His parents raised him the best they could, and he’s turned out to be a pretty sharding good kid.
(Shorthand: independent, Flexible, Creative, Adaptable, Aggressive defender of friends, Loyal and Has strong personal beliefs in right and wrong)
FAMILY:
Father; Serdin (Miner)
Mother; Eisa (Cook)
Siblings;
Brother: Serin (Miner) (older bother +2 turns)
HISTORY:
Growing up, there was nothing special about Eissan. The youngest of two boys just outside of Benden Hold, he was much less driven than his older brother, even from the start. While his brother was interested in work and future, Eissan was more interested in pulling pranks and getting into trouble, upsetting his father to no end. He wanted his sons to make something of themselves, whereas Eissan really just wanted to have fun. When his father pushed him to follow his brother and join his brother in the local mines, Eissan cringed. No, the last thing he wanted to do was work with his brother and father all day!!
So he tested the waters, trying to at least find something that he would enjoy. He tried farming but really had a brown thumb. Then there was Harpercraft, but he really couldn’t carry a tune and he didn’t have the drive to learn the instruments. And then there was Healer’s work, in which he quickly discovered he had a weak stomach when it came to broken bones and sick people. Finally, on a whim (and because his choices were getting a bit slim) Eissan found himself in the Smithy, testing his hand at Blacksmithing; which he was surprised he didn’t fail at instantly.
He actually found he enjoyed it, though maybe not the practical part of it? Eissan would rather make unique parts, or settings for the Jeweler’s wares then boring old Door latches and Runnershoes. Still, he did well enough and, much to his father’s shock, the boy was booted off to the Smithcrafthall in Telgar; only to, a turn later, shift his whole interest and get shuffled off to Ista and the Glass-smith Crafthall. In Glass crafting, Eissan found even making mundane items entertaining, from glass baubles to chimneys for oil lamps. To the surprise of all that new Eissan, he managed not to burn the place down and walk the tables to attain his journeyman rank.
Shortly after he gained his rank, Eissan traveled home. He brought with him oil lamps for his parents, hoping that his father might not see what he was doing as a complete waste of his life. He was only home a few days before a gruff woman on a Blue Dragon scared the blazes out of him in the market; and offered him a once in a lifetime chance. Dragonrider? Him? His brother had literally laughed when the woman offered, probably thinking the same thing Eissan himself was. He was about as suited to being on a dragon as firelizard was to do the dishes!
But hey, who was he to say no? It was a nice break from Glasswork, and he could always return to gain his Master afterward, right?
