NAME: Ishal
RANK: Dragonrider
AGE: Twenty-five Turns
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
DRAGON: Green Sleeduth
PETS: None
APPEARANCE: Ishal is a tall, slender woman, bypassing the average height of most and reaching six feet. She is rather on the thin side, seeming to be little more than skin stretched over bone, but she possesses a wiry strength- the muscles she has, though not bulging, are still well-used and strong. Her skin is pale, and she tries to stay indoors as much as possible because she burns all too easily. Freckles mark her skin, on her neck and down her shoulders to her arms.
Her hair is strawberry blonde, thick, short, and often unruly. It was longer when she was younger, but she finds that keeping it short makes it easier to care for, and it fits better under her helmet. Her eyes are blue and almond-shaped, and she smiles frequently.
Except when she has a focused goal, Ishal can be quite jittery, often tapping a foot or drumming fingers against the top of a table- usually in constant motion unless she’s asleep. Her stride is large, carrying her place to place as quickly as possible, and she’s always amused at the large shadow that follows her if she steps out of the Weyr’s passages.
PERSONALITY FAULTS: Messy: Ishal doesn’t bother much with the state of her room- she might make an effort now and then, especially when she realizes she needs clean clothes. She doesn’t really care about fashion, wearing the same outfits over and over until they’re nearly threadbare before getting rid of them and finding new ones. Her hair is usually all over the place- she’ll call it artful disarray, but it’s mostly just windblown.
Talkative: Ishal has a habit of spewing words, filling gaps in conversation or talking aloud to herself or Sleeduth when she’s alone.
Pushover: She doesn’t have much of a backbone, and it can be easy for people to push her around a bit; she has a hard time saying ‘no’ to anyone, even if she doesn’t particularly want to do what she’s being asked to do.
Gullible: Something she has in common with Sleeduth, Ishal tends to take what people say at face value, trusting them unless she has a reason not to.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: Dedicated: Being a rider was a goal Ishal had started to doubt she’d obtain, but now that she has Sleeduth and they are riders, she’s more than willing to do what she has to to prove to others that she’s a good rider.
Reliability: Being able to be trusted is something to strive for, and Ishal tries hard to always do what she says she’ll do, or be where she needs to be, to prevent from losing trust- or to keep from being on the receiving end of a disapproving gaze.
Kind: Ishal is of the belief that everyone deserves a friend, and she’s okay with being everybody’s friend- or just giving people a smile as she passes by.
Social: She doesn’t much like being alone- it’s better being part of a group, laughing, talking, or even working. What she’s doing doesn’t always matter, and even dirty tasks are done faster with more hands to help- but just sitting and talking is better.
FAMILY: H'ros, Greenrider
Mother: Selira, Bluerider
HISTORY: Born into Tidewalk Weyr, Ishal's parents are both riders. Neither felt like taking on the responsibility of raising a child; her mother, Selira, was barely convinced to carry the child to term, and the moment she was cleared to take on duties again, she was gone. Raised in the creche, Ishal grew up quite the sympathetic child, always seeking to include everyone in some game that was being played. When she reached her twelfth Turn, she began an apprenticeship in Healing, her nimble fingers and gentle nature putting her in good stead for helping the injured and sick. This apprenticeship was put on hold in her fifteenth Turn, however, when she was encouraged to take up Candidacy by a Searchrider whose dragon felt her potential.
She remained in Candidacy until her twenty-third Turn, joining the crowd of riders, Candidates, and weyrfolk who split from Tidewalk to found Mavros just two Turns after she'd entered Candidacy. Four Turns later, green Sleeduth hatched and beelined for her, vibrating all over, blue eyes gleaming in excitement at having found hers so quickly. They meshed smoothly, rapidly, and it wasn't long before the two were in tune enough to be able to finish each other's sentences, incredibly in sync after only a short time of being bonded; it was more than Ishal had expected but utterly perfect.
It made Sleeduth's first flight that much easier- it was truly as if they were one, and it impossible for Ishal to feel any sort of fear when Sleeduth was so in the moment. Waking to find their minds separate once more was quite jarring- it had taken Ishal a moment to even remember her name.
Their training is now over, having recently graduated as full riders, and they have taken their place among Gale Wing. Sleeduth's first was a success, marred only by the bad scoring she received at the end as she tired, but they both made it through to fight another day.
IN THE EVENT OF YOUR SUDDEN, UNEXPLAINED DISAPPEARANCE FROM THE SITE AT ANY POINT IN TIME, WHAT DO YOU WISH TO BECOME OF THIS CHARACTER AND ANY CREATURES THEY MAY IMPRESS?
b. Turn them into an NPC who may be killed off or used for plot purposes but who will not be played by someone else.
